As you can see, the above is quite a lot of work. This section provides some clearly defined phases of development so we can better see where Thea is going next.

Ingestion MVP - ✅ Done

Overview

This design sprint is concerned with providing an MVP for the ingestion of content placed in a specific directory. This does not include discovery, downloading, playback, et cetera…

High-level Features:

• Detection of files to ingest.
• Gathering information from OMDB using information scraped from the title.
• Basic FFmpeg transcoding.
• A Svelte-based web UI for viewing the queue of media being ingested.
• Recording of completed items by adding these items to the database as media entries.
• Correctly associating episodes of a TV show with existing records.

Back End Overhaul - 🚧 In Progress

Overview

During the documentation of this project, it became clear that the vision was cloudy and the existing code does a good job at serving a very particular niche. However, I’d like Thea to be a much more user-friendly and general tool for home media management, so lots of things need to change… (😢)
